Photo frame

The Photo frame panel shows your own photos instead of the dashboard after a period without touching the screen. To get there, open the WallAwake menu, tap Open settings and choose Photo frame.

Turning it on

Turn on Show a photo frame when idle. It is off by default. In Minutes without touching the screen before the photo frame appears you enter a whole number of minutes. The default is 5, and the number must be between 1 and 120. Tapping the photo frame brings the dashboard back.

Add at least one photo before using the photo frame. It does not appear while the WallAwake menu is open.

One photo or all of them

Cycle through all added photos is on by default: all photos take turns. Seconds per photo sets how long each one stays. The default is 10, and the number must be between 3 and 300.

Turn off Cycle through all added photos to display one photo. WallAwake uses the photo selected in Manage photos, or the most recently added photo if none is selected.

Adding and removing photos

Manage photos opens the Photo frame photos screen.

  • Add photos lets you pick photos with Android's photo picker. WallAwake copies them into the app, resized and stripped of location and other metadata. The originals in your gallery are not changed.
  • Delete photo removes the app's copy after you confirm. The original is not changed. To show it in the photo frame again, add it again with Add photos.
  • With Cycle through all added photos turned off, tap a photo to select it. With the option turned on, all photos take turns and no single photo is marked as active.

Clock and date

Under Clock and date you can show the time and the date over the photo frame. They never appear over the dashboard. Both are on by default.

Setting What it does Default
Show the time, Show the date Turn the time and the date on or off, each with its own Position: Top left, Top, Top right, Left, Center, Right, Bottom left, Bottom or Bottom right. Both on, at Bottom left
Text color The color of the text, shared by the time and the date. White
Show a panel behind the text Puts a panel behind the text, with its own Panel color and Panel opacity. Off; black at 50%
Text size Small, Medium or Large. Medium

A Preview shows the clock and date on both a dark and a light background, so you can judge the text color against either before you leave the screen.

Changes on this panel are stored when you tap Save settings, except adding, deleting and choosing photos in Manage photos, which act immediately.
