Your old tablet, a real wall dashboard.
Turn your Android tablet into a wall dashboard for Home Assistant or another web dashboard. WallAwake shows it full-screen, keeps the screen on according to your weekly schedule and can display your own photos when the dashboard is idle.
Key features
Everything a tablet on the wall needs.
On when you want, off when it can be
Set a weekly schedule for when the screen should be on or off. Need to check something outside those hours? You can switch it on temporarily.
Your dashboard, full-screen
See your Home Assistant dashboard without a browser bar and, from the menu, return to your start page with one tap. Website cookies are saved, so you stay signed in if the website remembers your login, for example with a Remember me option. A login that only lasts for one session is gone after a restart. Other web dashboards work too.
Photo frame in between
Enable the photo frame and add your own photos. When the dashboard is idle, your photos appear, with the time and date if you like. Tap a photo to return to the dashboard.
A side menu that stays out of the way
Open the menu with a swipe, a small handle at the edge or a long press in the corner. Reload the page, return to your dashboard or open the settings.
Ready after a restart
With the required Android permissions, WallAwake can reopen your dashboard after a restart. If the page cannot be reached, it keeps trying to reconnect. A secure lock screen must be unlocked first.
Stays on your dashboard
Links to other sites are blocked by default. You can also protect the settings and the Exit WallAwake menu action with a PIN. This helps prevent accidental changes; it does not lock down the tablet.
Why not use a regular browser?

Frequently asked questions
Does WallAwake work with Home Assistant?
Yes. Enter the address of your Home Assistant dashboard and WallAwake shows it full-screen. Sign in to Home Assistant on the tablet. WallAwake saves the website's cookies and data, so you stay signed in after a restart if Home Assistant remembers your login. A login that only lasts for one session is gone after a restart.
Will my screen burn in if it is always on?
Showing the same image for long periods can cause burn-in, depending on the display. A screen schedule reduces the time it stays on, and an enabled photo frame can vary the image. These features do not guarantee protection against burn-in.
Do I need an account?
You do not need a WallAwake account. Your settings stay on the tablet and there is no WallAwake cloud service. The website you display may still require its own account or internet connection.
Which tablets are supported?
WallAwake is designed for tablets with Android 10 or newer. Automatic reopening and scheduled screen control depend on Android permissions and the tablet. The app includes a test to check screen control on your device.
